Well folks there is no doubt about it; summer is here and with it comes hot humid weather. There is nothing more refreshing than a glass of cold lemonade on a hot day. So I thought I’d share my lavender lemonade recipe with you. Enjoy!
Ingredients
1/4 cup of dried lavender flowers
2 cups of boiling water
3/4 cup of raw honey (local if you can get it)
1 cup of lemon juice (from fresh lemons preferably)
4-5 cups of cold water (to taste)
ice cubes
Instructions
Pour your honey into a one litre mason jar and add your lavender flowers
Place a knife in the jar (to absorb the heat) and pour 2 cups of boiled water into the jar, stir well until the honey dissolves
Allow to sit for a minimum of 10 minutes (up to a few hours depending on how strong you want your lavender taste)
Strain out the lavender flowers and let cool
Pour your lavender sugar water into a pitcher and add your lemon juice
Top up with the desired amount of cold water
Serve with ice
Notes:
If you find the lavender taste too strong (soapy as some describe it), drop the amount of lavender flowers down to 2 tbsp
If you don’t have honey or cannot consume honey you can use organic cane sugar or coconut sugar instead
